America Is No Longer The Can Do Nation

America used to be the can-do nation!

We were the practical, down to earth, problem-solving people. Americans always found a way to solve problems. Things that perplexed our allies in WW I and WW 2 were mere child’s play for us. We came into the meetings bold, brusque, and business-like and found solutions. That no longer is the case.

Today it is other nations who are looking at us and wondering what happened to the U.S.? Why is the U.S. government always deadlocked? Problems sent to Washington, or any state capitol enter the “twilight zone.”

Sandy Hook, Parkland, Uvalde, and thousands more mass shootings have occurred in the U.S…all to be ignored by our elected leaders and legislators. They inflame their bases so that common sense solutions that an overwhelming number of Americans want to see never become law. The gods of the Second Amendment must be appeased through more and more human sacrifice. The younger the better.

But the Second Amendment didn’t say that any regulation regarding guns was prohibited. Even in Heller, Justice Scalia wrote that the handgun problem in this country is serious, and the Constitution gives government the ability to have the tools necessary to pass laws regulating and prohibiting firearms within the framework of the Constitution.

What Heller did do was make sure that citizens were free to possess handguns in their homes. There is nothing in that decision (or I will venture to say any future decisions) that would…
